Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Gonzalez-Collins is a Mexican-American sportscaster. Her current role is working as a sportscaster at ESPN, working as an anchor of SportsCenter as well as hosting SportsNation. She joined ESPN as a reporter in the year 2016. Her mother is Maria Antonieta Collins, a television reporter. Antonietta Collins has been bi-lingual since nine years old, a valuable talent that enabled her to get her first job as a production assistant with Univision in Miami which provided her with the opportunity to work with the producers of national programs such as Nuestra Belleza Latina, Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud and Primer Impacto. Then, in St. Petersburg, she was then recruited by the CBS station to work as an sports reporter. In 2009 she moved to Rio Grande Valley, Texas to become an investigative reporter for KNVO TV 48 Univision. Spanish station KNVO TV 48 Univision and Fox2 News. She covered stories about the issue of immigration and trafficking drugs throughout Texas and Mexico. She would also fill in occasionally as a weather and sports anchor. Deportes 23 in Dallas, Univision's station affiliated with Dallas. She was also given more accountability. She also did segments on Major League Baseball's ALDS ALCS and World Series the Dallas Cowboys the NBA postseason as well as the Finals FC Dallas and the Dallas Stars. Apart from that she was also the host and produced Univision 23's Accion Deportiva Extra local sports show. She was anchor for the sports segment of Despierta America Deportes morning show. The anchor also worked in the same role as the show's magazine Primer Impacto and for UniMas Network's Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta Collins was a native of the city of Veracruz, Mexico. They eventually relocated from Veracruz Mexico to Mexico City where she was born on November 22 1985. She also has an older sister. The family moved to Miami in 1992 following the departure from Mexico. Her parents divorced within a short time and in 1995, she was married a naval architect named Fabio Fajardo. Fabio Fajardo died in 2006 of kidney cancer. In June of the year 2006, Antonietta spent a week with her sister at Canton Ohio. The older Collins girl worked there. Antonietta still a senior at high school, yet she knew exactly what career path she wanted. While deciding if Mount Union was right for her Antonietta decided to go visit the school. At the end of the day she was enthralled with the school. The university offered her an academic major. After finishing her high school education, she chose to enroll at the university and major in Media Studies. Her professor Mark Bergmann, who managed WRMU FM and was member of her class, formed an ongoing relationship with the student. Her professor Mark Bergmann inspired her with his enthusiasm for journalism. Additionally, he profoundly influenced her.
